FAME International College to introduce niche programmes

KUCHING: FAME International College will introduce niche programmes that are related to digital business and digital marketing soon, in line with the state government’s vision of transforming Sarawak into becoming a digital economy. FAME International College chief executive officer David Chew disclosed that his side had set up a collaboration with Alibaba Group in May this year to dive into e-commerce training. “There will be a lot more programmes related to the digital economy, which are currently in the pipeline,” he spoke at the college’s 15th graduation ceremony held in a hotel here yesterday. FAME conducts pre-SPM workshop

KUCHING: Over 500 fifth formers from 10 secondary schools in and around Kuching have benefitted from the pre-SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) workshop held at Sarawak Islamic Centre here yesterday. It was organised by FAME International College. In its eighth year, this year’s workshop was conducted by Commerce teacher Hanim Haseni from SMK St Teresa who has received recognition as an Excellent Teacher. The main objective of this workshop is to help students prepare for the coming public examination by equipping them with knowledge and techniques to tackle the Commerce exam papers. The participating schools were SMK Batu Lintang, SMK Green Road, SMK Pending, SMK Jalan Arang, SMK Kuching High, SMK Padungan, SMK Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Gapor, SMK Batu Kawa, SMK St Joseph and SMK St Thomas. Gain experience to improve employability, FAME chief exec tells students

KUCHING: Knowledge and skill is fundamental, but adding on relevant experiences in one’s resume would make one more competitive when seeking employment, said FAME International College (FAME) chief executive officer David Chew. Addressing Form 6 students at the opening ceremony of the college’s Pre-STPM Workshop for Malaysian University English Test (MUET) here yesterday, he encouraged them to take chances and explore opportunities with a positive mind. “Forget negativity. Have a positive mind to allow yourself to live life with passion and be who you are and do what you want,” said Chew. Chua and Tan crowned FAME prom king and queen

KUCHING: Chua Fei and Sabrina Tan were crowned FAME International College’s (FAME) prom king and queen respectively on Sunday during the college’s Prom Night held at a hotel here. Both students received their awards and prizes from FAME chief executive officer (CEO) David Chew as they expressed their gratitude for being selected. Chua said he had nothing else to say apart from being happy while Tan said she was just grateful for being selected. Before presenting the prizes to the winners, Chew commented that no matter who gets selected as prom king or queen, everyone present is the best and they should believe that they are at all times. “We should always have confidence in ourselves. Initiative to benefit local SMEs in line with state’s digital economy push

KUCHING: Alibaba.com, iCube Innovation Sdn Bhd and FAME International College are building an ecosystem that will benefit small and medium industries (SMEs) in Sarawak. A statement from iCube Innovation said local SMEs will benefit through talent development and global market access. “This initiative is in line with the state government’s goal to transform Sarawak into a digitalised economy,” it said. iCube Innovation- a co-working space and innovation hub located at Icom Square- had on Friday collaborated with FAME to co-host a dialogue session between Alibaba.com and local SMEs. It explained that the purpose of the dialogue session was to provide the SMEs with cross-understanding and learning about the digital economy through Alibaba’s platform. FAME, Alibaba.com sign MoU on training

KUCHING: FAME International College (FAME) yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Alibaba.com, the B2B arm of Alibaba Group, to jointly offer e-commerce training designed to equip SMEs and individuals with skill sets required by today’s digital economy. FAME was represented by its chief executive officer David Chew while Alibaba.com was represented by Zhang Jun. University of Cumbria strengthens links with Asian nations

A visit by University of Cumbria staff to Malaysia last week was aimed at strengthening links between the institution and Asian businesses, industries and entrepreneurs. Sandra Booth, Pro-Vice Chancellor Enterprise, Business Development and Engagement at the university, was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the ASEAN-China Entrepreneurs’ (ACE) Conference held in Kuching, Malaysia. ASEAN is the Association of South East Asian Nations, which currently has 10 member states including Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines and Vietnam. The ACE Conference provides a platform for networking and business opportunities among industries and SMEs from ASEAN and China. FAME International College offers two UK degree programmes

KUCHING: FAME International College (formerly known as FTMS College) is offering two ‘3+0 bachelor degree’ programmes from the University of Cumbria (UoC) of the United Kingdom (UK). The programmes—Bachelor of Science (Hons) Business Management, Accounting and Finance, and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) International Business Management—are facilitated by local lecturers, who work closely with UoC to ensure students receive similar learning experiences as students studying on-campus in the UK. In a press statement yesterday, FAME International College (FAME) said the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Business Management, Accounting and Finance, aimed to get students ready for the business world through robust understanding of applied financial theories and concepts. University of Cumbria seals Malaysian connection

Academic staff from the University of Cumbria travelled to Malaysia to seal a collaboration with Fame International College (FAME) in Kuching which has been in development for two years. Executive Dean Professor Robin Talbot, along with Dr Caroline Rouncefield and Dr Raye Ng from the university’s Business School, signed a Memorandum of Agreement to finalise the launch of two degree programmes at the college. The BSc (Hons) Business Management, Accounting and Finance and the BA (Hons) International Business Management programmes will be taught and delivered locally at FAME, with the degrees conferred by the University of Cumbria upon successful completion. FAME signs MoA with University of Cumbria

Jan 8th 2016, Friday KUCHING: FAME International College (FAME) Malaysia and University of Cumbria (UoC) of United Kingdom (UK) signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) at Pullman Hotel here yesterday. FAME was represented by its CEO David Chew while executive dean professor Robin Talbot signed on behalf of the university, witnessed by guest of honour, Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang. According to Chew, with the MoA, they had made available the ‘3+0’ honour degree programmes from UoC namely Bachelor of Science (Hons) Business Management, Accounting and Finance as well as Bachelor of Arts (Hons) International Business Management.
