STEM Innovation Workshop SM Teknik Sejingkat

FAME International College organised and conducted a STEM Innovation Workshop to introduce JIMU™ TankBot to engage students’ interests in technology and robotics. A total of 30 students participated in this 2 hour workshop at SM Teknik Sejingkat, Kuching. Through hands-on participation using JIMU™ TankBot App, students were able to experience conducive STEM and robotics learning environment. The workshop also aims to cultivate essential 21st century soft skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and teamwork. The workshop is part of a programme called STEM for Youth. The objective is to introduce the knowledge and importance of technology, cultivate the interest among younger generation to learn STEM and pave the way for students who wish to continue STEM as their future career.

University continues to rise in student opinion survey

In data released today, the University of Cumbria has been ranked 28th out of 131 higher education institutions in a student-informed survey. The WhatUni Student Choice Awards reveal an increase of seven places for the university on its 2018 position. It builds upon a major improvement secured 12 months ago when the institution enjoyed a jump of 60 places, moving from 95th to 35th in 2018. Demonstrating sustained improvements in student experience over five years, the university has seen its standing increase annually since 2015 – from 112th in 2015 to today’s 28th position – as has its overall point score (3.51 in 2015 to 4.17 in 2019). Unlike other league tables, which are based on historical data, the WhatUni Student Choice Awards is the only UK survey that directly reflects student opinion. HDU Drone Academy, Petrosar Academy sign MoU on drone training

KUCHING: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between HDU Drone Academy and Petrosar Academy to train commercial autonomous (UAV/UAS) operators in the state. HDU Drone Academy is accredited and approved by the Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM) as the only academy in Sarawak that can conduct ground training, flight assessment, issue drone operator licence and conduct recurrent assessment. “This is a quality course which caters to all market segments in Sarawak,” said Petrosar Academy director Feroz Hayat Khan prior to the signing of the MoU. He added the MoU was a highly regarded collaboration which could cater to the huge market of drone operators and industries in Sarawak. University celebrates pioneering international business graduates.

Just weeks after ceremonies were held in Carlisle, students of the University of Cumbria have taken graduated thousands of miles away. FAME International College is located in Kuching in Sarawak, Malaysia. Since 2014 the International College has been an Associate Partner of the university delivering two honours degrees since 2016. The partnership sees 100 students to have completed their studies at FAME studying the University’s BA (Hons) International Business Management or BSc (Hons) Business Management, Accounting and Finance each year. The first cohort of 49 students to graduate received their awards from university Vice Chancellor Professor Julie Mennell (Dec 8) at a ceremony held at the college. Four graduands were conferred first class honours, 22 received second class honours upper division, while 21 obtained second class honours lower division. FIC embarks on achieving university college status — CEO

KUCHING: Fame International College (FIC) is embarking on a transformation plan to achieve university college status and embrace 21st century learning approaches in the next five years. Fame International College chief executive officer (CEO) David Chew said this during the college’s 20th anniversary dinner at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here on Saturday. “As of now, we have invested about RM700,000 into various technology solutions to achieve higher efficiency and effectiveness of work for the benefit of students and parents,” he said. He shared that the college classrooms teaching and learning have been equipped with an e-Learning platform which enables students to obtain their lecture notes, attend assessments and interact with peer or lecturers online. A new network will also be implemented starting Jan 2019 to provide full Wifi coverage to the entire campus. FAME College conducts pre-STPM workshop for 600 students

SIBU: FAME International College (FAME), Kuching organised a Pre-STPM workshop for MUET (Malaysian University English Test) for more than 600 sixth formers from six secondary schools here. The half-day event, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project of the college, was held at Kingwood hotel yesterday. The participants were guided on how to answer questions which involved listening, speaking, writing and reading components. Teo Ai Kiat, an experienced MUET teacher conducted the workshop which was attended by students from SMK Methodist, SMK Sacred Heart, SMK Chung Hua, SMK Nangka, SMK Sg Merah, SMK Tung Hua, SMK Bandar Sibu, SMK Rosli Dhoby and SMK Lanang. Teo who started teaching MUET in 2000 has trained several students who won the top national level prizes in the November 2016 and 2017 sessions. Malaysian business and finance courses achieve full accreditation

A partnership between the University of Cumbria and FAME International College in Malaysia is continuing to develop. Both the BA (Hons) International Business Management and BSc (Hons) Business Management, Accounting and Finance programmes have now successfully gained full accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). Gaining full accreditation is an important step for higher education programmes in Malaysia, enhancing career opportunities and making the programmes more attractive to students.
