ACCA Accelerate Talk (24 November 2022)

A talk on ACCA Accelerate Programme was held on 24 November 2022 attended by students from Diploma in Accounting and Finance and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Business, Accounting and Finance. We are glad to have Mr Peter Gabriel, Business Relationship Manager from ACCA Maritime Southeast Asia (Kuala Lumpur Office) to deliver the talk. Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Business, Accounting and Finance 3+0 in collaboration with University of Cumbria, UK is accredited by ACCA with 9 papers exemption at the Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills levels. Students can pursue ACCA Qualification through ACCA Accelerate Programme, which is a fast track programme to becoming an ACCA professional accountant. It allows students to sit for ACCA Strategic Professional Level examinations while studying for their bachelor degree. University of Cumbria’s quality education recognised on world stage

The University of Cumbria’s quality education has been ranked in the top ten of universities worldwide, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, the only global performance tables that assess universities’ impact against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The university ranked 8th out of a total of 676 participating institutions worldwide and first in the UK for Quality Education SDG, which measures universities’ contribution to early years and lifelong learning, their pedagogy, research and their commitment to inclusive education. In other notable categories, the university’s gender equality credentials were recognised when it came joint 81st out of 547 participating institutions for ‘Gender Equality’ and 69th out of 268 institutions in ‘Life on Land’. Overall, and as a relatively young university making its first submission to these rankings, it achieves an overall rank in the 201-300 range of 766 institutions, firmly residing in the top 40% of institutions worldwide. Entrepreneurship Club Visit to Digital Economy Hub

Our Entrepreneurship Club members recently visited Digital Economy Hub (DEH) where they were briefed on their business activities which include drone training, food delivery mobile app, printing service using mobile app, 3D printing and robots. The members were brought on a guided tour of the Hub where they had a chance to learn more about the business activities.

The Accounting Club of FAME International College (FAME) held a Charity Event and gave donations to Hope Place Kuching. Items such as canned foods, biscuits, toiletries, used clothing, detergent, used electrical appliances and school bag were contributed by students, staff, alumni and private companies. The purpose of this event is to develop students’ essential skills through their engagement with the communities. Besides that, this is part of their initiative to contribute to the society.
